Joan Paul

Men Only - Joan Paul

I spotted this the other day while listing some books for sale: Joan Paul in the December 1966 issue of Men Only, with the accompanying mumbo jumbo below.

She Wants To Crack The Male Barrier

“Doesn’t every girl want to marry a millionaire?”
Joan Paul had a look that contained the right balance of incredulity and impishness as she put this question.
She was talking about careers at the time. Just to suggest that she was half-joking, Joan added: “Anyway, there are not many young good-looking one available.”

This 22-year-old maid of Kent has lived and worked in London as a secretary for the past year. She has also been a croupier at a London club.
Joan wants to travel and sees her best chance by getting a job as a croupier abroad. But on the Continent, it was pointed out, croupiers are usually men.
"Then I'll just have to break through the male barrier," she retorted.
When Joan talks of travel she has sunny countries in mind. She loves the sun, music-classical and pop-and modern dancing.
Her pet hates? The English weather and tapioca pudding.

Dawn Warwick

Dawn Warwick

Dawn Warwick is not a ToCo model name that most of us would be familiar with, and there's a good reason for that: Dawn only had one ToCo appearance, in Spick No. 162. In this appearance, Dawn is in an outdoor shot, half-hidden behind Liz McEwen.

This picture, kindly sent to me by Tocofan, is interesting because it could possibly have been taken somewhere other than the UK. That sideboard does not resemble the sort of furniture typically found in an average UK house in the 1960s, and the partially obscured view behind the net curtains certainly doesn't suggest a typical housing estate. Who knows—we'll probably never find out—but it doesn't really matter, as it's a nice picture and I'm pleased to share it here.

Vanda Vane-Dotson

Are you looking at me?

Two interesting pictures of Vanda, in which she appears to have pulled her underskirt up to her neck and over her arms to conceal her obviously braless top.

Jane Paul

Welcome Home

Here are two more great pictures of Jane Paul messing about in the hall. What a welcome home that would be!

Fay Stevens

So Serious

Fay always appeared so serious, seen before in this location both dressed and undressed, in tan and black stockings. It was said that her husband took many of Fay’s pictures. She was certainly popular with ToCo, making 34 appearances over the years.

Cherie Scott

Kitchen Beauty

Cherie looks incredibly sexy doing who knows what in the kitchen, but honestly, who cares? Just enjoy the pictures.

Annette French

Airing Cupboard Surprise

What a surprise it would be to find Annette French in your airing cupboard! Annette's expression is fantastic; surely she must be in the top ten of most ToCo fans.

Pat McGuire

Looking Your Way

What's your way, Claude?

Well, the way I like a girl to look is curvy. I mean, if she's all angles and straight lines, what sort of a look is that?

Geometrical?

I don't go in for that. What I like is a lovely pin-up, looking just the way PAT McGUIRE looks. Who could ask for anything sweeter?

Well, there's my Rosie Your Rosie would get on well with my grandmother- they're the same age.

I'm a fan of Miss McGuire's. I'd carry her parasol for her if she'd let me. I mean, what a vision, what an adornment to the great outdoors, what a delight to my eyes.

Put your glasses on, then you'll like her even better.

Ruth Cavendish

Radiant Ruth

Another one from TocoFan. Great picture of a very smiley and relaxed-looking Ruth Cavendish. I am not sure if this picture was ever published, and to be honest, I have not checked. It's certainly worth showing.

Where are you now, Ruth? By my reckoning, you would be 77, still smiling and laughing, I hope.

Joan Glover

Beach Party!

Two more odd and unpublished pictures of Joan Glover. All are very ToCo bizarre again, with Joan dressed in shorts, a bikini top, and, of course, white heels, while balancing on a fallen tree somewhere in the countryside with a beach ball. All it really needs now is a herd of cows in the background. Many thanks again to tocofan for this contribution.
