About This Site
It all started with ToCo a long time ago…
I just love these little books; they appeal to me because of their pictures of pretty girls-next-door posing in domestic settings in their underwear - particularly stockings. The accidentally-on-purpose flash of suspender and stockings, teasing us with suggestions of what might be on offer - what could be better than that?
Over the years I have collected more and more books and, as computers and the internet got better and better, it became easier to find missing copies and other books of interest on line. My horizons were expanded to the SRA selection of titles, which have some of the best letters and articles I have ever come across.
At some point, and I am not sure why, I messed around with scanning a few copies - just to have digitally for my own interest. One thing led to another, and I decided to sell a few of these on eBay burned on to a disc; that of course was when eBay was an interesting place to be and where all manner of things were bought and sold. It became apparent very quickly that these books in a digital form were popular. Things got difficult with eBay, and it was time to move on, so I decided to branch out on my own with a basic web site and that’s how it all started.
The site started small but soon grew, with other collectors who I met on my journey contributing a great deal in gathering and putting together some of the book and model information. Over the years I have continued to collect not just ToCo, but a full range of magazines from the 50’s, 60’s and 1970’s. Looking into their origins a little deeper, it soon became apparent that there is surprisingly little information on some of these titles. This becomes harder to find as more time passes, as sadly those who were involved – models, photographers, publishers etc – disappear.
These books give us a glimpse into a window of our culture and past that we will never see again. Although some may be happy for these books to fade away, I do not agree as I feel the insights they offer are worth preserving.
So, years after it all started, I am still at it - collecting, cataloguing, organising; because that’s what men do, it keeps us out of too much trouble! I now have thousands of books. My intentions are to scan and digitally preserve the ones I can, and in doing so provide information and interest to collectors and other like-minded individuals.
As I scan more and more of my collections, I have decided not to keep the originals, so these will made available when scanning is complete; after all, who is going to want to deal with thousands of old books when I am gone! This website, though, will hopefully keep on going and growing for as long as I am still enjoying it and able carry on with it.
I am very happy to buy single books or whole collections to fill the many gaps I still have, and to make them available to other collectors at reasonable prices. Digital is a great way to go, as it allows you to have thousands of books on your iPad or computer, all nicely organised awaiting your attention.
As I state throughout this site, if you have any information about any of the books or models covered here, then please do get in contact with me.
